No one attending Gehlen Catholic (TK-12) pays the full amount. Here is how to lower the cost:
1. Jaybird Tuition ReductionFirst, we automatically subtract $1,000 for being involved in fundraising efforts throughout the school year, which brings the cost per pupil down to $10,500.
2. Education Savings Accounts
An Education Savings Account (ESA) is a deposit of public funds into government-authorized savings accounts that eligible families may use to cover tuition, fees, and other qualified education expenses at accredited private schools in Iowa. For the 2025-26 school year, the amount will be $7,826, plus any increase determined by the Iowa Legislature. The cost per pupil after ESA is $2,674.3. Diocesan, Gehlen, & Local Parish Scholarships
Next, you'll fill out the TADS application which may qualify you for various scholarships from the Diocese of Sioux City, Gehlen Catholic, and local Parishes. Some of these scholarships are awarded based on grade level and income eligibility. The amount awarded from these scholarships varies based on family.
4. Parental Investment
When applying for all assistance opportunities (ESA & TADS), an out-of-pocket expense could range from $600-$2,674 per pupil. Based on need, parental investment for a student can be as low as $50/month per student ($600/year). -
